What is a implant?

Implants are almost like natural teeth. They have a titanium root, an upper connector called an abutment, and the visible white portion called a crown.

There is a minimal pain

Getting a dental implant doesn't require any drilling of your adjacent teeth. The implant is placed in the jaw bone and does not have any pain nerves. There are minimal pain and easier recovery than most other dental procedures.

When you have missing teeth and need a false tooth with a little more strength, dental implants can offer the rigidity and longevity that you need. They work by implanting a titanium false root directly into the jaw in a simple painless way.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are long lasting and particularly strong. They work by securely embedding titanium tubes directly into the jaw bone. Over time, the implant will completely bond to the bone. A false tooth or a section of dental bridge can be mounted to the implant.

The result is a strong, durable, and natural-looking replacement for missing teeth that functions just like real teeth. Unlike traditional dentures or bridges, dental implants do not rely on adjacent teeth for support, which means they preserve the integrity of your natural teeth and jawbone.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Natural Appearance: Dental implants are designed to look and feel like your natural teeth, providing a seamless blend with your existing smile.
Improved Functionality: With dental implants, you can eat, speak, and smile with confidence, without worrying about slipping or discomfort.
Durability: Dental implants are built to last. With proper care, they can last a lifetime, making them a cost-effective solution in the long run.
Bone Preservation: Implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing the bone loss that typically occurs with missing teeth. This helps maintain your facial structure and prevents the sunken appearance that can result from tooth loss.
No Impact on Adjacent Teeth: Unlike traditional bridges, dental implants do not require the alteration of neighbouring teeth, preserving your natural tooth structure

Dental implants are also very useful for cases where lots of teeth are missing. With a few dental implants, bridgework can be installed to replace a full set of teeth. Implants can also be used to secure full dentures in place, making them more comfortable and more stable to eat the foods you want.

Dental Implants Treatment FAQs in Battersea

1. What are dental implants?
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made from biocompatible materials, surgically placed in the jawbone to support replacement teeth.

2. How long do dental implants last?
With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene are key to their longevity.

3. Is the dental implant procedure painful?
The procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia, making it pain-free. Some discomfort or swelling may occur after the surgery, but this usually subsides within a few days.

4. How much do dental implants cost in Battersea?
The cost of dental implants varies depending on the number of implants needed and the complexity of the case. It’s best to consult with our dentist for a personalised estimate.

5. Who is a good candidate for dental implants?
Most people with good oral and general health are suitable candidates for dental implants. Adequate jawbone density is important, though bone grafting can be an option for those with insufficient bone.

6. How long does the dental implant process take?
The entire process, from implant placement to final restoration, can take several months, depending on the healing and integration of the implant with the bone.

7. Can dental implants replace multiple teeth?
Yes, dental implants can replace single or multiple teeth, and can even support full dentures in cases of complete tooth loss.

8. What are the risks of dental implants?
While dental implants have a high success rate, risks include infection, implant failure, or damage to surrounding structures. Choosing an experienced dentist minimises these risks.

9. How do I care for my dental implants?
Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly, and visit our dentist for routine check-ups. Avoid hard or sticky foods that could damage the implant or crown.

10. Can I get dental implants if I have gum disease?
Gum disease must be treated before dental implants can be placed. Healthy gums are essential for the success of dental implants.
